Modern Slavery Group

Over 5,000 people were identified as potential victims of trafficking in the UK in 2017 – an increase of 35% on previous figures. A new group has begun meeting to discuss how to support the work of local police and the voluntary sector following the Modern Slavery Act. Local charity Restore is a team of volunteers with a project co-ordinator, based in Exeter, and working in Devon and Cornwall, who provides a safe place for women to rebuild their lives. In addition a number of people have trained as ‘Unseen Ambassadors’ to take awareness sessions out to church and community groups. Unseen - Modern Slavery.
