30th October: Modern Slavery Event. All are invited to attend a talk and discussion on the subject of Modern Slavery.  The event is chaired by Sir John Evans and the speakers are Shaun Sawer. CC of Devon and Cornwall Police.  Andrew Wallis. CEO. “Unseen” Anti-Slavery Organisation Helpline.  Major Heather Grinsted of the Salvation Army who provide shelters for rescued slaves. The event is free at King’s School, Ottery St Mary on October 30 from 7 pm to 9.30pm.

Free entry and free parking but donations gratefully received to combat this crime.

Free evening event:  The impacts of night lighting on humans and wildlife

This event is aimed at anyone interested in how night time lighting impacts on us and on wildlife. We will be exploring opportunities to determine how we can limit the impact of artificial lighting without sacrificing the key benefits .Talks from Professor Derk-Jan Dijk (Surrey Sleep Centre) on human health impacts, Professor Fiona Mathews (Chair of the Mammals Society) on bats and hedgehogs, Dr Adrian Spalding on moths and glow worms, Melanie Croll (DCC) and Peter Finch (CPRE) on tranquillity across Devon and Dan James (Exmoor National Park) on the Exmoor Dark Skies Reserve.

7th November: On Thursday 7th November, 1:30-4:30pm, Church Urban Fund will be hosting an afternoon of discussion around church growth, discipleship and social action at the Riverside Conference Centre in Exeter. You can book onto the event here. Read more about the day here.

14th November - Market Harborough - The Agricultural Christian Fellowship will be holding their 2019 annual conference entitled "Hope in Practice - Enduring Faith though Adversity". Please see their newsletter here for more information and how to book.

21st November - The Bright Field Community will host a "Reimagining Rural Ministry" Day at St John's Church Wellington. The day’s programme, open to both lay and ordained, will provide new insights into rural ministry, a reflective time of lectio divina and develop the conversations and good practice emerging across the South West. Booking is essential - please see the poster here for details.

March 2020 - DCRF visit to the Arla Factory North Tawton - date and details to follow. The milk from Dairyfield Farm (our April 2019 farm visit) is sent to Arla for processing - so we will really be able to follow the process from field to factory.

6th June 2020 - Rural Ministries Southwest 2020 conference - more details to follow in due course.

5th August 2020 - 2.30 pm - DCRF Farm Visit at Rhude Farm near Holsworthy. This visit will focus on the "nursery" side of dairy farming as we see the new calves and tour the farm.
