Harbour Charity

Harbour is a charity in Bideford North Devon which helps those who are homeless or otherwise in need, providing a drop-in where people can enjoy friendship, get a drink and something to eat, take part in activities and receive some of the essentials of life.

A Message from Harbour - July 2017

Greetings from HARBOUR

Harbour-Bideford Trustees are immensely grateful for the continuing help we receive from churches and the Bideford community to enable the work done through our drop-in service and the counselling / signposting support of vulnerable clients.

As we approach the Autumn season and reflection on Harvest, may I ask you to consider the attached information as a guide to the most helpful gifts that may emerge from your celebrations.

The Trustees are always willing to visit and speak about the needs and situations Harbour endeavours to mitigate, as we try to support those who fall through the gaps in statutory social provision.

It is not always understood that we are a separate charity from the Food Bank. Both much-needed organisations depend on local donations: the Food Bank responds to family and specific referrals from social services, GPs etc., while Harbour maintains an open-door policy for individuals, providing on-site hot meals, social interaction, together with clothing and other essentials.

We are aware that there are many calls on your interest and practical support, which makes us all the more appreciative of the responses you have given in the past, and we hope you will feel able to maintain in the coming season.
